Information, Instruction, and other cool stuff like "How to download a single picture, or the entire album"

Hey guys

For the new folks, you have probably seen me at various games over the years; I am Corbin and Kyle Austin's dad, and will be taking pictures this year as I have in in the past. I will be taking pictures from each game, whittling them down to some of the better ones, cleaning, cropping, then posting them up on the web.  I'll send out a note each time I upload.  I will be posting the links in the next post.  After you have read this post, you do not have to return here. You can just to to the second post in this "blog" from now on.

Please forward my email address to anyone that would like to be updated when I post each game.

You are very welcome to take a look, download or order prints of the ones that you like.  Please note that these photos are free.  There is no cost, I am not charging, and I am not being paid.

With this in mind, please read the following.
  • While I will really try to get shots of each of the young men, please understand that I am looking for action shots.  I'll try to include as many of the players as I can, and I would imagine that throughout the season I'll get good ones of everyone.  If you don't see a great one of your son, please don't be offended – let me know, and I will work to include them.  I just don't know everyone.  And, I'm looking for good pictures, not checking a list.
  • Some games are better than others for pictures.  Sometimes we are at a quality facility and the lights are very very bright. Some locations are horrible.  Some shots under the lights look great, some don't. Be patient, but let me know if you don't see something you are hoping for.
  • Some of the pictures will a few sequential shots of some action.  Either an awesome hit, or a shot on goal, etc.  I don’t have any easy way of marking those ‘groups’ but you should be able to identify them.  Sometimes these sequences make a nice set (say a wide frame with room for three 5x7 pics).
  • The pictures that I upload will be *large* (the original size).  I do this so that you get the best resolution if you want to download/print/order them.  You can go large on your prints- 8x10s even 10x12s look great.  You are welcome to download them off the site and print them yourself, or you can send them off to be printed anywhere you want.  I make no money off it – it is simply a free site for hosting pictures– so please do as you like.
  • For those that don't have a good application for storing, looking at, and printing pictures, I recommend Google's Picasa.  Great great program.  Super easy, with lots a features.  If you use the application, then, from the website, there is a button that allows you to download the album directly into your Picasa  www.picasa.google.com
  • I am doing this for fun, and to continue improve my skill.  Each game's pictures a couple of hours to review, whittle, crop, edit and post.  Your comments are most welcome, appreciated, and let me know that folks want them.
  • Also, if you need a photographer, please contact me for additional information.  Weddings, parties, other events; I'd love to work with you.

Ok, so how do I download the entire album at full resolution?

Very easy.  Follow one of the links to the album.  When you can see the entire album, all the way on the right you will see a little drop-down menu. Click that and select "Download".  Then go to bed because it will take awhile.  I upload the pictures at full size so that if you want to have them printed in the future it will be nice, not blurry. Each picture is 5-10 megs, and there are frequently a couple hundred in the album.

Awesome, but what if I only want to download a single picture at full resolution?

Great question.  If you do the whole "right-click and save image" you only get a very small file with very low resolution.  Terrible for printing.  Getting the full size is simple.  Click on the picture that you want to download. Once it opens, up at the top is an "Actions" menu. From that select "Download photo".  Remember where you saved the picture.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Useful Info
Pictures
  • Night pictures are hard.  The lighting drops and comes from a few bright tungsten lights that stopping motion difficult.  I've done the best that I can, and I hope you enjoy them.
  • I've left in more pictures than normal since it is the first game.  I started with just under 1,500, and whittled them down to about 200.  Some of the pictures are not so great, but they show an action sequence that I thought that you'd like.

Video
  • Although the pictures have been whittled, cropped, and edited, the video has been posted as-is.  I've strung together all of the individual clips and posted them to YouTube.
  • You get a much different perspective with a sideline camera.  It is much different from Hudl, much closer, more personal.
  • You can relive the glory of that amazing block, that killer touchdown, or just share the link with folks who couldn't be at the game
Also, if you need a photographer, please contact me for additional information.  Weddings, parties, other events; I'd love to work with you.
